Becoming a mom<\/a> makes it harder for everyone to stay on top of chores \u2013 even Marie Kondo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The author and organizational expert<\/a> \u2013 perhaps best known for her Netflix shows, \u201cTidying Up\u201d and \u201cSparking Joy,\u201d which saw her bringing her KonMari method of tidying to homes around the U.S. \u2013 recently admitted that \u201cI have kind of given up on that \u2013 in a good way for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Added Kondo, who is now a mother of 3, “Now I realize what is important to me is enjoying spending time with my children at home.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n

The best-selling author of \u201cThe Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing\u201d had, for years, encouraged fans near and far to try to rid themselves of items that failed to \u201cspark joy\u201d with their owners. These days, however, keeping on top of messes and clutter has taken a backseat to spending time with her kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, living in the digital age means that even this benign shift in perspective led to some backlash, with some followers taking to social media<\/a> to complain about Kondo\u2019s confession. (Pardon me while I organize my eyes upward.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s nothing Kondo hasn\u2019t heard before. The clean queen drew criticisms in the past \u2013 for example, when she told a couple on \u201cTidying Up\u201d that they should \u201cideally keep fewer than 30 books.\u201d The response was such that she had to clarify<\/a> her position during an interview, explaining that her broader point is for folks to reassess their relationships with objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully, many others have used their respective platforms<\/a> to voice support of Kondo\u2019s new outlook on life this time around. But either way, while Kondo isn\u2019t ridding her home of excess material possessions with the same zeal these days, she appears to be finding happiness all the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that\u2019s consistently been her primary objective, for herself and others, she noted to the Post. \u201dThe ultimate goal is to \u2026 lead a joyful life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
